TOUR DESCRIPTION

Day 1: Chiang Mai to Mae Hong Son

On the first day, after departing from the hotel in Chiang Mai, we will drive to Mok Fah Waterfall. The drive will continue up into the mountains before descending into the Pai River valley. Afterward, we will drive for 1.5 hours to Pai and visit the Memorial Bridge (the World War II Japanese Bridge), which has become a favorite photo stop. Then, we will drive about 45 minutes to take a break at Doi Kiew Lom View Point in Mae Hong Son. The drive along the amazing scenery becomes truly apparent as one travels toward Mae Hong Son, offering many opportunities for spectacular shots. It takes about 2 hours to visit the Muser Dam village Ban Jabo or Ban Jabo (Black Lahu community). Ban Jabo, particularly the "swinging legs" cafe, is very popular with both local Thais and tourists heading to Pai or Mae Hong Son. We will drive about 1.5 hours to visit Wat Phra That Doi Kong Mu, which offers a panoramic view of the city from the temple’s terrace. Here, you can see the two unique chedis of the temple and the Burmese-style lion statues. It is an inspiring spot, and the views over the city and its airport are spectacular.

Overnight stay at Mae Hong Son (at your own expense).

Day 2: Mae Hong Son – Pai

In the morning, we will visit Wat Jong Kham and Wat Jong Klang. After that, we will take a long tail boat to visit the Karen Long Neck community, where the women wear brass rings on their necks and limbs. Leaving Mae Hong Son, we will visit the famous Su Tong Pae Bamboo Bridge, depending on the season and the state of the rice fields. The bridge is entirely made of wood with a laced bamboo pathway. It crosses the rice fields to the Tham Poo Sa Ma temple. It is an idyllic place, particularly during the rice field season, although this may vary depending on when you visit.

Next, we will visit Tham Nam Lod or Nam Lod Cave, where we will explore by bamboo rafts and on foot, delving deep into the darkness of these caves to see the natural beauty of the stalagmites and stalactites. (Bamboo rafting depends on the water level; if the water is low, we may not be able to do it.) The most famous of the caves can be explored by bamboo raft.

Optional tour: Sai Ngam Hot Springs, also known as the Secret Natural Hot Spring in Pai. Next, visit Mae Yen Temple (Temple on the Hill), which offers great views over the town of Pai and the Pai River valley.

Overnight stay at Pai (at your own expense).

Day 3: Pai – Chiang Mai

Pai is a small and charming town located in a valley and surrounded by mountains, offering many spots for scenic photos. There are numerous photo opportunities here, and it is highly recommended to drive up to the Yun Lai Viewpoint twice! It's quite a steep drive through an interesting Chinese hill town, but the view is spectacular. After that, visit Santichon, also known as Pai Chinese Village, nestled in the outskirts of Pai. Visit Wat Nam Hu Temple, and then we will take a look at the geological wonder that is Pai Canyon before returning to your hotel in Chiang Mai.
