Elephant Nature Park is an amazing place, a real highlight and wonderful to see these beautiful and friendly animals. You Learn a lot about the Asian Elephant and why it is important to protect them.
This is definitely the highlight of your trip during your stay in Thailand. You get a lot of information about the elephants and about all the story's of the individual animals. You are allowed to feed the elephants and to help to bath theme.
Elephant Nature Park is a unique elephant rescue project set in Northern Thailand. Established in the 1990's the aim has always been to provide a sanctuary and rescue center for elephants in Thailand
The park is based in Chiang Mai province, Northern Thailand, some 60km north of Chiang Mai city and Chiang Mai International Airport (CNX)
Elephant Nature Park has rescued over 30 distressed elephants throughout the country and has received numerous awards from institutions including the Smithsonian. The founder, Sangduen Chailer, was named Asian Hero of the Year by Time magazine in 2005 and the park has been featured in many international publications including National Geographic magazine as well as feature documentaries from numerous film production companies including Animal Planet, BBC, National Geographic, CNN and many others.
* 0800-08.30 am. Pick up from your accommodation. A picturesque drive through agricultural Thai countryside, along Mae Taeng Valley brings you to Elephant Nature Park. You will hear the personal stories of our rescued elephants as told by expert guides. You will learn about the problems elephants face in Southeast Asia, as how Elephant Nature Park is helping in the treatment, and care of Thailand's dwindling elephant population.
Feeding time. After unloading and distributing the fruit treats you will have a chance to feed the elephants from the viewing platform.
Lunch: A sumptuous and varied buffet follows.
Bathing Time: walk with our staff to the river that skirts the park
After learning how to safely and properly bathe an elephant, plunge right in and help scrub these giants as they splash around. If going into the river is not for you then watch the elephants bathe and play while you stay dry on the sandy shore. Around 5pm it's time for goodbyes to the elephants and to Elephant Nature Park before the hour-long drive back to Chiang Mai where you will be dropped off at your accommodations.
Things to bring: Shorts/swimming gear and change of clothing.
