Hi Dao!

Thank you again SO much for helping us out the other week. The boxing was a great laugh, they gave us a ringside table, right by Ladyboy Bar and the girls there were hilarious.
I won 5 buckets-worth of bets from Nadine - she just doesn't know how to pick a winning boxer!

The cooking school was really really really good. The guy running it, Aon, is fantastic. We had such a good morning, I can't recommend it enough. A lot better than the other cooking schools I've done - recommend you send all of your clients there. I'm even about to write a trip advisor review for him - I never bother to do that ANYWHERE! Rest assured I'll do one (and get Nadine to do another) for you - trip advisor's really exploded in the last few years, I'd not heard about it last time I was up!
.
Hope you have a wonderful Christmas, however you might be celebrating!

Thanks again,
Sam

Yenni : Indonesia

Excellent Services.. I got to Chiang Mai for first time and have no idea for any bus schedule. But from Wandering Star Tour website, I found believed/trusted & professional travel agent. They sold direct bus ticket from Chiang Mai to Luang Prabang .Even the price was not the cheapest but it was competitive one.I surprise that the service was 24 hours from Miss. Dao.At the first, my group and I planed to stay at airport but I just know that we can not stay because the airport closed midnight. Miss. Dao helped us find the hotel on 11.00 pm. I’m very satisfied with Wandering Star Tour. Worth it!!!

Vilvi : Indonesia

Awesome…. The best service from Miss. Dao.Thank you for all helping. We love Chiang Mai.

09 Mar 2012 From Mr. Jack and Mrs. Aureen-UK
Our day out from Chiang Mai
We were picked up at 0900 hours from our hotel by car with our guide for the day Amyl who was great and her English excellent. Khun Dao at the office helped us to plan our day out and the price included everything including the car, driver, guide and entrance fees for the Caves and the Tiger Kingdom.   Our first stop was the underground caves at Chiang Dao, which we walked trough with our guide explaining everything.  Plenty of stalactites and stalagmites.
After this we drove into the hills  to visit the very primitive Hill tribes, and this was most interesting to see how they lived.  We were able to walk about wherever we wanted around the wooden houses with animals and chickens wandering all over the place.  The first village we went to we met the 'Head man' who was able to speak a few words of English. He was 70 years old and his wife was weaving while we were there. They also take in tourists at 50 baht a night (around £l) but you have to sleep on a mat on the hard floor!   We saw Buffalo, chickens and wild boar roaming around the houses, and all food was prepared over a log fire..
We also visited another village further down the road before driving out to the Tiger Kingdom where over forty tigers were in various  enclosed areas.   Depending on the price you either went into the area of the baby tigers - which was more expensive - or the medium or the large tigers, which was the lease expensive. We decided on the large tigers, and while we were waiting there the assistant said it would take about an hour before we could go in but the medium sized tigers was available t go in straight away, so that's what we did.  We were taken into the  enclosed area by a keeper who stayed with us while we  were in there and there were two other keepers with two tourists each.  We then had about ten minutes with each tiger in turn, everyone moving round.  As it was the hottest time of the day most of the tigers were lying down and sleeping.   We were told not to go to the front of the tiger but keep to the back end!  We were able to cuddle the tigers, and scratch their tummies, and play with their tales and they didn't mind at all. They were used to all this as they were hand-reared since they were born.  After two years, if they are still friendly they stay there, and if not they are moved to a zoo.   We took it in turn to lay down next to them and lay our heads on their stomachs, and the keeper also took photographs of us next to the tigers.  It was certainly an experience to remember.
We were then driven back to our hotel arriving there around 4pm after a most enjoyable day out. Our sincere thanks to  Dao at the Wandering Star Tours and our fabulous tour guide Amy.

19 Feb 2012 From Duncan,
Hi Dao,

I just wanted to send you a note to say what a great trip we had today with Chang Siam Elephant Training.

Thank you so much for booking us with them, I don't think I can imagine how it could have been better.  Please pass on how pleased we are to Nong and the entire team, and thank you for pointing us in their direction in the first place.

Thanks so much, what a great privilege that was.

03 Feb 2012 From Kyle and Jimmy,
Dear Dao,

I would like to take this opportunity for making it all happen for me and my friend jimmy for all the trips in Chiang Mai. It is indeed the best trip we ever have.

Please send our regards and thanks to Moon, Lieu and toe for being the best tour guide and for providing a highly informative information to us and our group.

The price is right and the package is exquisitely remarkable. I would highly recommend your tour agency to any of my friends and family that will be visiting Chiang Ma.

Thank you Dao for your team hospitality and best of effort to make Chiang Mai a place for us to remember.

Million Thanks..
27th January 2012 From Anne,
Dear Dao,

I just found your email!

Everything went fine in Yangon as I told you. Thank you very much for caring.

About my itineraty arounf Myanmar, I have done this in 15 days:

Day 1 pm: Arrival in Yangon (pick-up by Motherland Inn 2)
Days 2: Yangon
Day 3: Flight Yangon-Bagan (early morning)
Days 3, 4, 5 & 6: Bagan
Day 7: Bagan - Mandalay  by fast boat 30 US$ (about 13 hours, leaving at 6am and arriving at 19h)
There is a boat 3-4 hours faster for 40 US$

Days 8 & 9: Mandalay and around
Day 10 am:  flight (45 US$ cash) Mandaly-Heho aiport (inle Lake)
Days 10 pm, 11, 12 & 13: Inle Lake
Day 14 am: Flight Heho-Yangon
Day 14 pm and 15 am: Yangon
Flight back to Chaing Mai day 15 at 14h30

The most commun itinerary is Yangon - bus/flight - Mandalay - boat down the river - Bagan-bus/flight - Inle Lake-bus/flight-Yangon
Many persons stop at Callao in the way between Mandalay and the Lake and do a 2-3 days treck.

Ther are many others hightlights, but those are the 4 principals. If people ask you, I suggest no to try to do more in 15 days (mabye adding the treck),
especially of they are not flying! The long night buses rides are exausting (lucky me I just had the day on the boat that was very nice).

The nice thing about doing first Bagan is that the boat is empy and when you get to Mandalay, you have a fabulous sunset on the river.

See you soon!

Dear Dao,

I have just returned back home, but I would like to thank you and Amy
for an incredible experience at Doi Suthep.

We booked the early morning tour and we are so glad we did. It was
truly one of the highlights of our 18 day trip in Thailand. I am still
wearing the white string that the monk gave to me in Doi Suthep. It
was such a magical and moving place! I wanted to thank both of you
again and I will certainly recommend your tour.

All the best,

Samantha Reynolds

18th Nov,2011 Mr.Michel - Germany

Dear Dao,

Today is my last day at Kho Samui and here is a report about the quality of the hotel you booked for me.
The Hotel is very big, modern, very clean, service is very good and pleasant.
The rooms are modern with a small balcony to hang wet clothes or go for smoking.
Lots of channels on TV in many languages including BBC, Italian, German, French etc,
There is a pool area where they serve the meals. Meals are very good, especially the breakfast which is
done as buffet with a large variety of choices. Meal portions are good and prices are fair.
Internet is available for free in the pool area where we can just sit in the shade the whole day
with drink drinks or full meal services. The internet in the rooms or in the lobby (incl PCs) is not cheap though.
30 Min: 100 baht
1 Hour: 150
1 day:  500
1 week: 1200

One has to expect an almost 'concrete only' area and little nature except in the pool area.
The inner courtyard is paved with stones/grass/stone/...that forces you to walk like an old lady to
be able to walk on the stones only. Not so pleasant feeling but acceptable.
It's located almost at the end of the beach and one has to walk a couple kilometers on the beach to get
to the interesting Fisherman's village or take a taxi (200 Baht).

In all I would definitely recommend the hotel. It gets a 4 star out of 5 for my evaluation.

Thanks for the help to get here and have a good time.
I whish you a lovely day.

Regards

Michel

Travel tip : Can recommend a great tour company - Wandering Star Tours (access website online) - Miss Dao, Frank and tour guide Amy. Did a great job and we really benefited from Amy's generous sharing of knowledge re Thai tradition and Buddhism. Got so much more from the temples visited. Trip to elephant sanctuary was awesome - spent time feeding, bathing and learning about elephants. A nice reprieve from the exploitation of the these wonderful creatures for tourism. If you are looking for adventure/excitement, Flight of the Gibbon is well worth it - a mix of 18 zip, rope and suspension bridges above the rainforest in CM. About an hour's drive from CM so easy to do. Guides are safe, friendly and knowledgeable.

10th Apr,2011 Mr.Ezio Achille

Ciao, Khun Dao,

Hi.

I used to use your service on January 2010 for our trip to Chiang Khong. It was a very good one! And your agent by the name Dao,was so helpful. But this time, we would like to use your service again. Could you please arrange a hotel for us in Mae Sai, Chiang Rai. Me and my friends will be riding to Mae Sai(golden triangle) on December 2010. However,we could not find any hotel there. We found one guesthouse by the name of Bamboo Guesthouse just near the border in Mae Sai. We tried to contact them but they could not speak English. Therefore, we hope that you could book rooms for us on 6 and 7 December 2010.

Kindly reply to us.Tq.

Well Done!!!!!!!!!!

“A great Chiang Mai adventure” Chiang Mai

My cousin and I visited Chiang Mai recently and had an amazing time. Although a beach girl at heart, Chiang mai had so much to offer and I strongly reccommend a visit. We booked some day trips with a company called wandering star tour, who I highly reccommend. All staff were friendly and helpful and our one small problem we encountered, was very politely and effeciently rectified, which is a nice change for Thailand. Flight of the Gibbons is a must, the staff were very strict on safety and all had great humour which added to the experience of the day. We also did a day trip to the Golden Triangle which was surprisingly good, the white temple we stopped at on the way was an exquisite work of art and well worth a visit , the hot spring a little dissappointing as it was ruined by a car park surrounding it, the Golden Triangle was very interesting and it was nice being able to cross the borders to get a hint of the neighbouring cultures. We also did an adventure tour which was great fun, where we did bamboo rafting, elephant trekking, waterfall trekking, white water rafting and a visit to a hill tribe village. Not for the feint hearted is the X Centre where we did ATVing, zorbing and a bungy jump for a fraction of what you pay back home. The tiger centre was great, although sititng in a cage with three loose fully grown tigers was probably a bit stuppid in hindsight. Despite packing in as much as possible in our few days, there was so much more we wanted to do, but that's a great excuse to go back. All in all a great trip and a place I strongly reccommend to visit.

Dear Frank

I sent the following message to the Travel Clinic after an article appeared on Sunday

Love Shelagh

Dear Sir

I was interested in the advice you gave the reader who requested
information on a visit to Chiang Mai in the Sunday Times on

24th January. A former colleague of mine, Frank Shettlesworth, (we
both worked for many years with Air Canada in London) has set up an
excellent travel agency in Chiang Mai with a website of
www.wanderingstartour.com . I have recommended a number of people to
this agency and, without exception, all of them have been given
excellent service with real attention paid to planning tours to suit
the individuals concerned. His staff have also been commended as
being both friendly and helpful.

Your faithfully,

Shelagh Langlands

27th Sep 2009 Paola, Emanuele, Morgan, Italy

Dear Dao!!!! And Dear Amy!!!

At last, and as promised, here we are!!!

Sorry for not writing you before..the fact is that, immly after gorgeous thai, all the rythms of usual live have started all of a sudden and...we really felt bad, with little time, running and running alldaylon for working and normal life!

Now it's sunday afternoon and we have a little time to write you. Here it's still pretty warm (20°) but fall is coming, in the morning it's a big foggy, leaves start being yelloworange and..this morning we've been into the wood to look for cheastnuts ahahahah!! Tipical fall activity!

Well...How are you??? Hope everything is going fine with you Dao, and with Amy and La, with whom we hope you'll share this message.

This is to say that we have spent a GORGOEUS MARVELLOUS time in Thailand and that we miss it so much! We still have visible enthusiasm in our eyes, and I think that our souvenirs, of which we are telling so much to friends and relative, will soon take some of them to Thailand!!! When we show our pics, our objects and we talk abt the very special things we felt, saw and did...well it's amazing!!!!

For sure this is not going to be our only travel to Thailand: we enjoyed it so much that we intend to come again!!

Evertyhing has been just perfect(also the last week in Samui, where we had a bit cloudy days but veeeery relaxing and very pleasant.
As to the week we spent in the North...we think it has been the most beautiful part of our travel, and we have a real nostalgia for it!

The trip that you organized has really been VERY good, good programm, good places, nice hotels (mainly that in Chang Rai!!!) and very very friendly and professional guide + driver, which is definitely imporant when travelling.

Pls try to let Amy have one of the pics we took together, that we are attaching.

A big CIAO from all of us, and in particular from little Morgan (Harry Potter for all Thai people ahahahah) that is still with a part of his heart in thailand.

Ciao Ciao, have a great time!
Paola, Emanuele, Morgan

16th Aug 2009 Karen, USA

Hi Dao,

I saw that you were recommended on Trip Advisor. We are flying in from Bangkok for the dayon 8/21/09, at 7:25am and our return flight is 9pm.

My husband and I are interested in a full day tour to visit an elephant camp, (no elephant rides), moderate hiking in the hills and jungles, stopping at waterfalls for a swim, possibly rafting down the river, and visiting Chiang Dao Caves. Although we would like to visit with a hillside tribe, we are not interested in the commercialized tourist traps where all they want to do is sell you stuff.
Tell me if this itinerary is something that you do and if there are any other non-touristy things you can show us along the way.

Also, if you are available for this type of tour what would you charge us? Most of the tours I have seen end around 4 or 5 pm, so you could drop us off at Doi Sutheparound that time, and we will explore that on our own.

Thank you,
Karen

Hey you wonderful people!

Gosh do Marie, Caroline and I miss you!

It has taken me two weeks to semi-recover, and Marie was just in my office telling me the same thing. I think we two old ladies did more
than our bodies were used to in a very short period of time.............BUT, if I had it to do over again, I would do it ALL again plus twice as much!

Again, I cannot tell you how wonderful you are Dao...in arranging a magnificent tour package for us..........how incredibly patient and kind and funny Amy is.....gosh, she was just incredible and so very kind when We kept her all day........and who could NOT love Lah. He was the best...and you can tell him that Caroline thought he was very cute too!!! Smile

Marie just told me she has friends coming to Chiang Mai with a Habitat for Humanity project, and if they have time, they are going to want a tour package. Surely, we are going to send you as much business as we can, and early in 2011, I will try to bring a group there. I cannot do it in 2010, I don't think, because I have a long trip to Australia and New Zealand on the books, and if I can sell that, my usual group travelers will not be able to afford an immediate trip to Thailand. However, when I told my clients and friends all that we had done and how wonderful our trip was, their first response was, "Count me in on the next trip you take there!" So I am spreading the word as much as I can.

My very best to all of you at Wandering Star.........you made our trip
to Chiang Mai more than perfect.

Love, Carol

Gentlemen: Your company has come highly recommended to me, and I am hoping you can suggest and put together a great package for me.

Let me start out by saying I am a group coordinator for a large travel company here in the USA. I put together groups and take them all over the world, and I have been to Bangkok many times with them, but never to Chiang Mai. I am not in the process of developing a group departure for 2011, and this particularly trip I am making to Thailand in 3 weeks, will be for that purpose. I will have two colleagues with me..

We are definitely on a budget. But we do want to experience as much of the Chiang Mai area as possible...for our future trip which will also encompass 3 nights in BKK.

I would very much appreciate the lowest industry rates you could quote me for this particular trip since we are all working.....UGH. We will make it up to you with a future group there without question.

I am ready to get the ball rolling. I understand Amy is a wonderful guide...but we are up for anything. And I need your suggestions.

I look forward to your reply and what you need for us to proceed.

Thanks so much.

PS) One of my colleagues is still questionable..but at a minimum, there will be 2 of us.

Dear Dao,

The Whole Gang got back yesterday, thoroughly exhausted and tried. So they would need another 2 days to rest before getting back to routine.

My mum was telling me that they all had a really good time overall, although the weather was really hot. She commendted that Amy and Lah are both really wonderful people, very lively, chatty and friendly.

They were happy with Amy and Lah and of course, you.

You take care, stay in touch and thanks so much for looking after them when they were in Chiang Mai.

Regards,
Anita

22nd May Mr.Guillaume&Vanessa, Franch

Hello DAO,

We are friends of Emmanuel and Ferrial. We want to spend our holidays this summer in your country. Emmanuel told us to join you to organize a part of our trip because you are an expert and they are always very satisfied of your work.

We want to come in Thailande for our holidays on July. We want to spend 3 or 4 days in Bangkok. After we want to go to Chiang Maï for 3 or 4 days. To finish we want to go to Kho Samui for 4 days.

We need your help to organize our trip in Chiang Maï (reservation of hotel, visit of sites, organistion of a trekking...) and to organize our flight from Chiang Maï to Kho Samui and from Kho Samui to Bangkok.

Could you tell us if you can organize this part of our travel? If it's ok i will explain you better what we want to do in Chiang Maï or you can propose us what you think it's interesting to do or not, you have more experience than us!!!

I thank you beforehand for your help.

Have a nice day.

16th April 2009 Jeff Trip Advisor

have been planning a trip to Northern Thailand for some time. Being an ex Travel Agent (Australia 25 years) I though I could do it all myself and wait until my arrival.

However through this site I found Dao at info@wanderingstartour.com and she has been so helpful and extremely efficient. I am an organized person and love it when the plan all comes together and I can highly recommend Dao and to those who wish to have their trip arranged before they get to Chiang Mai. I am off in 3 weeks and can't wait. I will place a full report on this forum (Trip Advisor) as I am going off the beaten track, trekking etc.

Cheers to one and all

Dear Dao,

We hope you are fine! As promised, here is our feedback. Before starting I would like to let you know that this was a fantastic experience, we do not regret anything and we had heaps of fun!

On Wednesday April 8th 2009, the driver came on time to pick us up at the hotel. He then dropped us off at the bus station giving us all documents and instructions. We waited 30 minutes then when the Bus arrived, we showed the paper to the hostess. The seats and service in the Bus were fantastic we had enough biscuits, juice and water for our breakfast for the next morning. It was a comfortable journey. We left at 22h30 and we arrived in Nan at 4h30 in the morning. The trip was not long. Then when we arrived someone was waiting for us, we had coffee and water and we waited until 6h00 am. We drove to the border that opens at 08h00 am. We arrived there at 7h30.

Then at the border we had no problem. A lady was waiting for us. We jumped into a 4x4 drive car. We have been driving for 30 minutes when suddenly it started raining, pouring and the car got stuck on a hill. But that is the weather, no one can predict nature! It was impossible to move it so we took our backpacks and walked under the rain we had 4 km to walk until the pier. There is no dirt road in this area, this is why we got stuck in the sand. But we travel light and we have good walking shoes. Eventhough our backpack and clothes were wet we were happy to walk and took some pictures. When we walked a car stopped and dropped us off to the pier. In this car there was the lady that was waiting for us at the border. She managed to find a car for us!

Then at the pier we caught a speed boat to Pak Beng. It took around 20 minutes max maybe less actually... ...Speed boat was quite scary but it is safe and fun!
we left around 14h00. . So after some discussions with the local people she arranged a speed boat for us and we took 3 hours to arrive in Luang Prabang, as the river courant was favorable (we were heading downstream). We felt lucky being able to catch a speed boat whereas some people were waiting... People really were welcoming, very nice they made everything possible.

Thank you for arranging this tour. I would suggest this tour to: - young people who:travels with walking shoes ( very important on sand road, you get mud everywhere) and light backpacks (we had light backpacks so it did not bother us to walk with them) in case you have to walk a few kms. - easy going people like couple or friends that can understand that sometimes we cannot predict the nature and who like walking. It is important to know how it can be like, because advised travellers never complain. if you have any questions don't hesitate!

Leena and Sebastien.

Dao ,

Your services have been great, and though the journey to Pai was uncomfortable, that was because of the road, not the bus itself.

The centre of Pai was 'Backpacker Central' and not really my kind of place, though I hired a motorbike and really liked the countryside around, which I suppose is the real reason I went.

The trek was great. Tony the guide was gentle-natured and knew what he was doing. It wasn't muddy and I liked the jungle and rice fields a lot. There was always lots of food and everything was well-organised. If there was a problem, Tony had sorted it out almost before we realised.

Would prefer to stay the second night in a hill tribe village, too, not with Shan.

All in all, I had a great time, thank you and wonder if it's possible to do a day trip to a Hmong/Lahu/Akha/Mien/Lisu/Lawa village? I need to come in and pay for the 6 December bus to Chiang Khong and will be in touch next week about the HK-BKK ticket once I've organised my China visa.

Meantime, enjoy your day off.

Best wishes Jacqueline

Hi Dao,

The hotel in Khol Lanta was the Blue Andaman Resort..

We had our own bungalow which was lovely. The resort was on the beach which was a little rocky and not as sandy as expected, but it was a couple of feet away from a better beach and we were able to walk for miles!!! The restaurant was very good so we did not have to look for places to eat each evening! We paid 800 bat a night. It has a lovely
pool and massage parl;or on the premises.

AS for Viet Nam----We bothy a ticket for the open bus which enabled us to tour from South to North and stay as long as we wanted at each destination. It was a great way to visit the cou8ntry.

In Hanoi we stayed at new hotel in the old quarter It was Hang My Hotel and they were very helpful with the tours .It was 12 minute walk from the West :Lake which is a very lovely part of the city. We took a one night two day tour of Halong Bay which was great. We then travelled south stopping at Nimh Binh, Hue and Hoang then on twp Na Trang( a great beach resort area),ending up in Saigon. Laos was absolutely wonderful. We went to Vien Vang for a night and then on to Luang Probang

We recommend that city which is quaint with a great market, fabulous food, and interesting side tours.Walking around was easy and we never took a Tuk Tuk or taxi.

WE stayed in brand new bungalow a little away from the main street It is called The Bellevue and included breakfats. I think we paid $12.00 a night!!!

Please ask any question you might need for you prtential customers.

Regards and thanks again for all your help!!!!

I can't remember if it is afternoon there because my brain is still not in gear yet. Have slept quite a bit since arriving home after all our travels. I just wanted to add to the letter already sent to you.

Franko ,

Thanks for everything. We will be back up in Chiang Mai area again in about another month.

Your info from (Travel From) the Bangkok airport was great. The aircon bus service from the new Bangkok airport and return is a 24hour operation and the cost was only one Canadian dollar (30 Baht) each way.

Please extend our thanks to your staff at Wandering Star. Their info was very helpful and saved us from wasting a lot of time on Sunday. Had we made the trip to the flower exhibit that day we would not have been admitted because it did reach capacity before noon as your staff was aware. We attended today and the exhibit was amazing and on such a grand scale. The free shuttle from the train station is well run and very organised.

On Sunday we did the trip up Doi Suthep as you staff suggested and it was 50 Baht up and 40 Baht on the return on the red taxi. It clear so a great day for pics.

Cheers

I am presently in Bangkok and recommend you google ‘ Wandering Star Tour' located in Chiang Mai for help or tips.

They took great care of my family in the north last week and with our trip down to Ko Lanta. I feel they charged me a FAIR rate without all the haggle that can sometimes be required in Thailand.

Ask for Dao, I'm sure she's much prettier than Frank.
